Dec 14, 2013 A 5-stamp mill was erected to crush the ore. According to the State Mining Bureau's annual report for 1892, the ore returned from $10 to $25 per ton in gold. In 1895, the mine was purchased by Henry T. Gage, a lawyer-businessman closely allied with the Southern Pacific Railroad, and later governor of California (1899-1903).

This Stamp Mill has ten stamps with each one weighing 450 lbs. each. The purpose of the Stamp Mill is to crush gold bearing rock into sand so that it can be processed.
